ABOUT GARWAY CROQUET CLUB
Garway Croquet club is set in the south Herefordshire village of Garway at the foot of Garway Hill, unusually the club plays its croquet on the idyllic Garway Common.
It all started back in 2012, when a group of locals decided over a drink in the village pub, to give croquet a go. The rest they say is history. The first club championships were held in 2013, it has been held annually since over the August Bank Holiday weekend.
The club has two lawns marked up over the main playing season (April – September). The standard of playing has improved over the years and the club has adapted its rules to reflect the rules played in full AC games. Short game croquet is also played, an ideal game for beginners. And members are free to have a go at other disciplines like Golf Croquet.
Club equipment is available in the pub for members to use at any time and, in the main season club night with coaching is held on a Monday evening, often combined with a drink at the village pub which is location just across the road from the lawns!
Golf Croquet comes to Garway!
With Association croquet well established at Garway it is now time to open up the club to those interested in it's simple, quick and highly sociable cousin, Golf Croquet.
GC is fun with a few rules and a game lasts less than an hour each player takes one shot, in strict rotation, so experienced and novice players are at a similar level.
